ADVENTISM VERSUS CHRISTIANITY.
TO THE EDITOR. Sib, — Mr Israel advertises that people are getting Seventh Day Adventist doctrines from me " second han.led." I have been reading from their Confession of Faith and standard authors, and answering by scrip tare. Mr Israel's addresses are therefore the " second handed " article m comparison. Here are a few things these standards teaoh which I am prepared to refute by scripture : —That besides a " moral change," 11 new birth " comprises a " physical change at the second coming of Christ." That no man possesses eternal life now, and itjis the same as immortality, received at Christ's second corning. That man has not an immortal spirit and soul, but at death becomes extinct like the beast; so when Jesus died, as a man He was no more. That Christ's death did not purge sins, nor is atonement yet complete. That His blood carried sins m to the holy place m Heaven, and He only entered there m 1844, and is still occupied m cleansing the sanctuary. That sins after all -will be brought out and laid on the devil as the scape-goat, and he and the sins will be annihilated together with all wicked men, so there is no eternal punishment. That even for the saved, the •devil helps Cbrist to finally put away sins. That even Christians are yet on trial, and the Church is the same as Israel, and we are now m the times of the message of the third angel (Rev. xiv) given through Adventiata; and those taught, who will not keep Saturday as Sabbath, must receive the" mark of the Beast and drink of the wrath of God. That the Pope is Antichrist who changed Sabbath to Sunday, and m keeping Sunday you are owning the papa«y and m danger of being involved m its terrible judgments. That Israel will never be restored as a nation and the doctrine of "a temporal millennium" is a fable, as the devil is to be confined to a desolate earth for 1000 years. In brief, not speaking of the men, but the system, along with truth not taught m the denominations, Seventh-day Adventist doctrines are antichristian and blasphemous, so that it is time somebody rang the fire bell. As advertised (D.V.), I take up soms of these viewa to morrow. — W Cobrie Johnstos.
