5 WESTLAND RACES. SECOND DAY. [UNITED PBEB3 ASSOOIATION.] Hokitika, January 10. The second day's races took place to-day ; ; there was a steady rain ; 600 were present. The following aro the results : Hurdles: Captain Abram 1, Clyde 2, Magpio 3 ; oapital raoa ; time 3min 29J seas, Dividend £3 33. Tradesmen's Handioap: Miss Ann 1, Miss Lacey 2, The Ace 3 ; won rather easily ; time 1 mm Slseo. Div £1 7s. Westland Handioap: Count D'Orsay 1, Miss Ann 2, Tyrant 3; good finish; time 2min 55soc ; dividend £2 16s. District Race: Miss Lacey 1, Tyrant 2. , Dividend £2 Is. A protest was entered against Tyrant for pulling, but is not yet decided. Consolation: Magpie 1, The Ace 2. Mayboy fell when half way down the straight, throwing his rider, but was not much injured. Dividend 445.
