In connection with the death of the Khedive it is mentioned that seven days | suffering from influenza affected his lungs and heart.- He was. for some considerable time unconscious, and. .his illness was kept secret. The funeral 7 will take place m Cairo to-day. Prince Abbas Bey, heir apparent, has been ■ summoned from, Vienna. No regency has as. yet been appointed. The Egyptians scarcely realise that the Khedive is dead. London, January 8. The Times, referring to the Khedive's death, states that it completely changes the condition of the Egyptian problem, and strengthens the necessity for England remaining there. The Daily News considers the death a serious blow to England m Egypt.
