STRIKE AT NORTH CAPE
It is reported (says to-day's Nelson Colonist) that, the coal-miners at North Cape are now on strike.
STRIKE^ DECISION MAY BE
REVIEWED
WESTPORT, April 10. It is ' understood that-, a meeting .mil be held at 'Denniston .'this morn-: ing, but its purpose is not disclosed. It is suggested that, it may be to review the decision previously arrived at to cease work.
The turners wish it to be understood that their decision is purely an anticonscription resolution,. being as follows:—"We, the members of the Denniston, Millerton, and Stockton Collieries Industrial Union of Workers, enter our protest against the Conscription Act by cessation of work, and ■ demand the immediate repeal of the Act. We wish to state that we have no quarrel with the companies whatever. In the present instance the issue is conscription alone, and nothing else, but the conscription strike has nothing to do with the recent arrests, lor the adverse decision of the appeal cases, nor is.it the resii.lt of the failure of recent negotiations Avich the mineowners." •
