BRITISH LIQUOR CONTROL.
LONDON, April 6. Mr Lloyd George., replying to a deputation of advocates of prohibition or State purchase, said the people were the only force to decide upon the question, of temperance reform. It would be a national disaster to reinstato the liciuor trade on the old basis during demobilisation. Fi>r himself he would never surrender to threats. The Government would earnestly consider the question of control. Realising" the folly of introducing any measures unless they re- ' ceivea general assent, it would be madness f.o put forth in the middle of the war a proposal defying practically the whole of organised labor.
