CHRISTQHUIt.Ce, April 8. About 10 o'clock this morning a girl named Henrietta Foster, aged eighteen, was murdered by Charles Butler, ageci.forty, at View.Hill station, ten miles front Oxford, North Canterbury • '
, The girl's father1 is caretaker at View Hill, and, with his wife and two, daughters, went- to church; at Oxford, .'caving Henrietta at the house.
Butler, a rouseabout' on the place, got a razor from his hut. He entered --he homestead kitchen, where Henrietta Foster was sitting on n. sofa darning stockings, and cut her throat front ear to ear. There wa& i:o other interference with the girl. Then Butler unsuccessfully attempted to drown himself in a well.
