To-day's casualty\list contains the name of Corporal H. C. Bottrell, wounded. He is the youngest son of Mr J. A. Bottrell, of Blenheim, and ~before enlisting was employed at the.;local branch of the Bank of .New Zealand. Corporal Bottrell was. yii prominent 'fi.gurc in local athletics, being a representative, footballer and a fast runner.

Major F. R. McMuhon, R.E., who was nwarded, the. D.5.0.,f0r good servk:e in : Fr'inc3,- is a native of Wellington. He'was in Cromwell at th^ beginning of the dredging boom,sOTi<l ;vmainef). there several years. E.f afterwards went to West Africa, and subsequently to Dutch Guiana, afterwards working in British' Guiana, Burma, Alaska and Algeria. He joined King Edward's Horse as a trooper in August. 1914, and at the end of the year obtained a eomrnif?sion in the Shropshire Light Infantry. 'In May, '1H1.5, he was transferred to the^-oyal Engineers with the rank cf j^mtain. . The Meritorious Service Medal has been awarded' to Staff-Sergeant R. ,T. Gouiding, younger brother «f the ' late Captain J. IT. Gouiding, of Blenheim.
