Despite the threatening aspect of the weather, and light showers which fell during the forenoon, the attendance at the patriotic sports'at Brownlee Park oil Easter Monday was very satisfactory. Not enough rain fell to affect the ground, and the track was in good condition. Most of the velds were large, and all the sprint events provide close finishes'. Special interest was shown in the v chopping and sawing events, fast times and exciting finishes being the order of the day. Amongst the visitors were many from Blenheim and Nelson, and most of the out-districts were well represented. Good business was done at the refreshment, produce, sweets, jiad other stalls, and several guessing competitions were well supported. The gate takings, amounted to £25, and when the full returns and lists are in, the total receipts,, including proceeds from the pictures and dance in the evening, ire expected to reach £130.
