CORRESPONDENCE.

ANZAC DAY.

[to the editor.! !

Sir, —I notice that a meeting, is called for Monday next to consider the best method for observing Anzap Day. I sincerely trust the first thing doiie, find inxiny opinion, the most essential, will be to. see that it is observed on the proper date, viz., April 25th, and not, as desired by some Minister apparently has not the slightest idea of' the eternal fitness of things, on a date he desires to fix. To anyone with the least idea of what is lit and proper it must seem^ almost an insHlt to our Anzac heroes to have the celebration of the day which will stand out in history for ages to come, put off for a municipal election. Anzae Day will be remembered (long after such elections and other similar minor matters have been forgotten) as one of the most glorious days in the history of our race, and to make it a sort of movable feast, to be fixed to suit the convenience or caprice of a Minister, is to entirely alter the character of the day. I maintain that Anzac Day has no more right to be changed from April 25th than Christmas has from December 25th. T am pleased to see that Duncdin and Christchurch will have none of this shuffling of days to suit a Minister's whim, and T sinfcerely triast that Blenheim will also remain firm and honor its heroes on the proper day, viz., April 25th.
