PACIFIC INSURANCE RATES.
A RISE OF 100 PER CENT.

Despite the understanding between Japan and the United States to cooperate to protect Pacific shipping, the marine insurance rates rose 100 per cent. The Australian rate is expected to increase from 12^ cents to one dollar per hundred dollars value. The passenger business is already affected.
