OMAKA ROAD BOARD
The monthly meeting of the Omaka Road Board was held on Thursday. There were present: Messrs R. J. Bell (chairman), S. M. Neville, G. Boyee, D. Bishell, and 11. Ham. The Marlborough Fruitgrowers' Association wrote asking for financial assistance towards the expenses of representation at the forthcoming National Patriotic Show. —It was resolved to reply that the Board could not assist in this matter at the present time. The action of the chairman in attending the meeting of the local Efficiency Committee of Advice, together with Mr Vavasour, was confirmed. It was resolved that a meeting of ratepayers be called for the 14th hist, to elect the sub-district committee, to consist of five members. , The following property transfer was noted: —Section 18, Opawa, E. Parker to James R. Ciimo; allotments 36-38, sub. of section 7, Omaka, John Batty to G. N. Wareham; allotments 302-3, 314-15, Renwick, ] G. H. Hartley to W. Baiy. The sanitary inspector wrote complaining of stagnant water in the water tables and; ditches on Lakin's Cross Road, Springlands.—The inspector was instructed'to..attend to the matter. '
The inspector reported having consulted with the Wair.au Road Board's inspector with reference to protective works required at the Omaka bridge, near Renwick, when it was agreed that a liejv groyne was; needed, the estimated co^t of which was £50.—1t was resolved to put the matter before the Yvairau Road Board for its approval. ) t The following works were left to the inspector to ' attend to: —Redecking Lilchfield's bridge; working Lhe snnd from the road . near Cameron's, Wairau, West; temporary repairs to road at St. Andrews, fronting Mr Neville's property; filling at J^arnham, as suggested. One tender was received for metalling at Farnham. This was considered c-xcessivo, and it was decided to again call for tenders. The one tender received for forming and metalling at Yelverten not being satisfactory \>o the vendors of the property, it was arranged that | the forming and grading be done by j the Board, the metalling to be done j later. " I
Accounts amounting to £330 were passed for payment.
