Mr Gladstone has recovered from the cold from which he was recently .suffering. The Rev. T. P. Dale and the Key. Mr Enraght, the Ritualistic clergymen who were imprisoned for contempt of orders of the Court of Arches,- have been discharged from custody, it having been found that the writs under which they were arrested were defective. The Intercolonial Conference toj day adopted resolutions that a request ' fthould be sent to the Imperial authorities that the number of vessels of the navy in Australian waters Bhould be increased. ' A scheme for the regulation of Chi-, j nese immigration, proposed by the Western Australian delegates, also occupied the attention of the Conference, but no definite resolution on the subject was adopted. Third prizes — John Blacketfc, Wellington, for lighthouse chart ; Thomas George, Dunedin, for plans and soundings of Otago Harbor; Thomas Hargraves, Nelson, for model wave-power engine; Captain Holliday, Wellington , for plan of Wellington Harbor ; G . H. Luxford, Wellington, model of Maori canoe ; William M'Lennan, Dunedm, working model of boat, with propeller, John Way mouth, Auckland, for models of yachts.
