Messrs Charles Pownall and Co. Scriveners, Wellington,, report : The supply of money m minimum sums offering for mortgage investment during the> last month has been' exceedingly contracted, and , notwithstanding a liaitea demand, fe t w transactions therefore have been concluded. Large amounts upon landed estates are ' more rendily negotiated ab lowest current rates, which coatinue to rule from 7 to • 8^ per cent. There is no modification m the banking pressure, and with little prospect of floating thefour million Victorian Loan this pressure is, likely to continue for a further interval.
