The Auckland Bene FACTOR.
FACTOR. TEE WILIfLiKELY TO BE m|PUTED.
Information which ha?* reached our ears point to the probability of the will of the late-Mr .CoPtley., of Anckland, being disputed. Mr Cpstely, it h needless to repeat, died recently worth £130.000 which, with the exception of some Bmall legacies, was bequeathed to the local charitable institutions. The deceased gentleman, it. is said, died m : the belief {that he had no living relatives. It now appears the? c is a Mr L .Costley who has been a resident m Christchurch for years, and who has strong reason to, L believe that the deceased was indentical with a brother whoViny the year 1838j sailed from; Bel/asc, for distatnt parts. Whether the supposed relationship is real cannot, of course,; b« proved for some time. It is' ppdeaiable ; however,; that some time ago, hearing of the existence of Ja Mr Costely m Auckland, he wrote to a friend with,a TJew of ascertaining that gentleman's antesiecents and discovering if ■possible if. he were m reality his brother. It then transpired that Mr: Cosiley, cf Auckland was more .generally by the name of " Costello" and. that the»e was no relationsiiip. between the parties the friend referred\tp took no further steps. Mr Costley, pi ThrisJ churchy is now m communication, we believe, with the trustees of the deceased, and should no satisfactory understanding be arrived at, it is not improbable that proceedings will be taken m a court of law to test the will. It is pointed out that the deceased'was of veiy eccpntric habits that ho was subject to fainting .fits, and that'he made his will only the day prior to his death. Moreover, it is eue^ested that had he known of the exi^t^hcb of His stspposed brother m Christchurch he would not have forgotten him m his wil'..
