(by telegraph.) (united peess association.) Wellington. This Day. Weather forecast for 24 hours irom. 9 am. to-day. Wind, b°tween northeast and northwest m both Islands ; changing to south-west at all places south ot Lyttelton and Hokitika within 12 hours, and later at all other places. Barometer, further fall at all stations ; but rising within 12 hours at -all places south of Lyttelton anti Hokitika, and later at all other places. Sea, heavy on Western Coast, and between Castlepoint and Kiikoura. Warnings for westerly gales hare been sent -to all places south of East Cape and Cambridge. I : -Synopsis of last 48 hours, since Saturday afternoon: The barometer has fallen steadily every where/ with northerly winds, which increased to a hard gale on feunday night at- most places from Castlepoint and Wanganui, southward to Lyttelton and Hokitika. ; ..-.;.
