WELLING TON MONEY MARKET.
Messrs Chas, Ppwnall and Co., Scriveners, Wellington; report:— The money market has been m an unsettled srate during the la c t; month, while few trausactions of any importance have offered to neceßs;tate any increas-. m value. The rate of interest must nr.w bf quoted one-half per cent higher, viz., from 7£ to 9 per cent., according to the amount re quired. The local supply of capital is still limited, and ia Australia full rates cont nue to be realised. In London money has aam failed to 3| per cent., but as we hear o* no further lar^e eonsignmenta for mort age invesiments from tbat source, we see little prospect at present of any abatemeut ii/our quotations.
