SEVERE ACCIDENT.

( BY TELEGRAPH) (SPECIAL TO THE STANDARD) Woodville, This Day. A somewhat severe accident happened to Mr T. Lowes of the Manawatu Gorge Hotel, last night when return ing from Woodville. The night was dark, and not seeing the ferry wire he rode against it, the wire causing severe facial contusions. The accident might very easily have been much more serious than fortunately it turned out. Mr Lowes is obliged to keep to his bed in the meantime.
