SALES OF POISONS.
[Post.] Our rulers seem to have great difficulty m making up their minds as to what restrictions should be imposed on the sale of poisons. Last month we published two different sets of regulations raade on this head by Order m Council, each amending the other. The authorities appeared, however, to have come to the conclusion that there is still something wrong about the matter, for m to-day's Gazette the following fresh' Order iri Council, dated the 6th inst,, is published ; — " Whereas by an Order m Council dated the 2nd clay of November, 1883, certain regulations were made under " The Salo of Poisons Act, 1871," respecting the sale of strychnine and arsenic : And whereas it is expedient to 1 evoke the said regula- ' tions: Now, therefore, his Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and m pursuance and exercise of the po'yers and authorities vested m him by the said Sale of Poisons Act, 1871, doth hereby revoke the said Order m Council and the regulation* made thereunder." There seems a slight dogree of inconsistency and vacillation about these proceedings, to say the least of it.
