The Chairman said that as would be seen by the balance sheet that the Club now had no liabilities, but on/the other hand had a small balance to its credit, Although, this was the' case, they must* not. forget to continue to work for the Club, as a lot of improvements were required to be done to the course, which would necessitate further expenditure. He would urge them to get new members to join the Club. Mr Abrahams moved: "That the report, and balance-sheet as read be adopted. ; ; Mr Stuart seconded the resolution which was adopted. The next business was the election of a new Committee. The names of 16 gentlemen being proposed, a ballot was taked with the following result;: — F. Perry, 18; H. F. Pratt, 17; J. Nathan, 17 ; T. King, 17 ; Capt. Walker, 16 j J. Nannestad, 16 ; J. King, ; 15; W. Akers, 15; T. Caverhill, 13; A. Bentiey.ulO; H. *C. Alters, 9; A. Russell, 8; J. Walkley, 7; Skerman,; 7 ; W. Batt, 8. : The first eleven gentlemen, wew declared by the Chairman, fa b,a the new Committee fov the ensiling 1 year. Mr James King proposed a vote of thanks to the retiring Treasurer, My Macquarrie. That gentleman had always evinced, great in*ei-est m the prqgi^ss of the Club and had fulfilled not only the duties of Treasurer but also those of Chairman and even bellringer. He regretted they were not able to recognise his services m a more substantial manner. The motion was seconded by Capt. Walker, who passed a high eulogium ou the retiring officer. The resolution was carried by acclamation. . Mr Macquarie m returning thanks said he was obliged to the members for the compliment paid him. He could not see what he had done to merit such a testimony of their approval. If it had not been for the assistance . rendered him by Messrs J. King aud T. entrusted to him so satisfactorily. He was about to leave Palmerstou on a visit to England, and if he returned he would do his best to secure the continued prosperity of the Club. Mx Cavorhill proposed that Mr T. King be Treasurer pro tern. The motion was seconded by Mr Nannestad and carried unanimously. Mr Macquarie proposed a vote of thanks to the Chairman, MrJenssen. The members of the Club would all' regret that the Chairman hacl declined 'to^becomeia 'menlbeiTof the' new Committee* .The manner m iwhich he had conducted the meetings, and .the great interest he had always evhiceii m the welfare and prosperity of the Club reflected on him the highest credit. He vas sure he ha.s expressiug the ieelingg of every member ; 0f the Club when h© stated that his retiring from active duty would be a great loss; ' ! After ,the general meeting a Committee meeting was held, at which .Mr T. King was elected Chairman of Committee for the year. ' Ground Committee. Messrs Pratt. Nathan, and Nannestad. It was decided to hold a race meeting on Thursday the 1 Oth of April, and the following gentlemen were eleced bubComnmtee to prepare programme &c Messrs J. King, Nannestad, Pratt, Caverlnll, Bentley, W. Akere and the Secretary ; the Committee to meet on Monday the 28th January.
