Horses : The supply has been very : large. On Friday; Ijhe Durham yards* were crammed with horaes from all "/parts. A shipment of medium draught and light harness horaes from the West Coast elicited koen competition. They were a first- class lot, and sold well, Good local horses were also well Represented, and- with- ti'f inceptions were quilted at satisfactory' prices. "Good" -useful hacks were m demand at reduced, rates. . We quote hacks from L 5 toLlTMOsjligbth^nesa; Ll2 10s to Ll6 "10s ; medium draughts', Ll7 15s to L 26 ss ; heavy draught, L' 29 to L4O f unbroken draught colts, Ll 3 10s to" L20, 10a. 'Wool': On Monday we held our -fourth sale of the season. About 200 bales were catalogued, [and prices ranged at late quotations, if any difference lower. Hides, skins, and tallow : On Tuesday we held our usual weekly sale, when an average number were offered. We quote hides 2fd to 3£d ; skins, from 2s to 2s lid ; tallow, 27a 6d. Cattle : The supply of all descriptions liaß been large. On Tuesday at Newmarket, dairy cattle, store and fat cattle were yarded m full numbers. For good dairy cows there exists a fair demand, and tiir-eo-year-old and grown steers axe inquired for \ those on Tuosday sold well. The butcher's pens were well slocked, and bidding (was brisk throughout the sale. We quote : Dairy cows, L 4 10a to L 7 lsa ; three-yeai-o]d steers^ \^ \%% fld tq £(j. SWep ;'An average number, both shipborne and local, were brought forward. A draft of magnificent wethers trom Matamata w#re keenly counted for 21s 6d being given for top pens. Lambs : In average supply and good d^jn^nd, and sold al from 8s 3d to 16s. Pigs : Few yarded. There exisU a demand for good porker*.
