ELOPEMENT IN WELLINGTON.
The latest sensational "incident m Wellington is an elopement, the parties concerned being a man named Smith, who has been employed as a clerk at the gasworks for some jears, and a dashing; barmaid, formerly of the Albion Hotel. Smith is a married man,, and has several, children. He is m good circumstances, and bears a good character. Unfortunately, however, he became 1 enamoured of the goddess of pint pots, and the iesult,a£ter a short intimacy, was the disappearance last week of clerk and barmaid. The pair, however, were so ! closely followed by the detectives with, a- warrant issued by Mrs * Smith for the arrest of the fickle partner of her -joys and sorrows, that before the honeymoon was over, Smith was arrestedi at the Bluff. . He will probably appear m the Resident Magistrate's Court this .week.
