THE WAIRARAPA COLLISION.

(by electric telegbaph. — copyright.) (retjtf.e's telegrams.) ■ Melbourne, February 29. It has -transpired that the Merchant Shipping and Underwriters Association has written to the Victorian Navigation Board, calling attention to a race which is alleged to have taken place between the 3teim)ships Adelaide and Wairarapa. The Board replied, stating that it had decided to take steps to hold an inquiry, into the collision which occurred between the two .vessels. The reply, however, states that the Boardhas no power 10 prevent racing.
