HANLAN AND LAYCOCK. DETAILS OF THE EVENT. (electric teledraph.-cofyright) (reutee's telegrams.) Sydney, May 22. Following are details of the boat race this afternoon :— For the first quarter of a mile the boats were level, and the competitors both appeared to be rowing a waiting i'ace. Hanlan then increased his speed, and a^; the h;t]f mile was leading by two lengths. Laycock then spurted, but Hanlan answeied, apparently without exerting himself, and kept the lead for the remainder of the race, riuishiug half a length ahead. Time, 22min 45sec. There was a large attendance of spectators.
