AFFAIRS IN EGYPT.
Cairo, May 23. Great efforts are now being nj&de to secure the southern frontier of Egypt proper against invasion by the follower* of Mahdi. A large force of Egyptiau troops has arrired at Wady-halfa under the command of British officers and will at once commence to fortify the place.
