Concert.

The Wesleyan Sacred Concert given last evening m the Foresters' Hall was a pronounced success. The inclemency of the weather prevented •a good many who had purchased tickets from being present, or a full house would, we feel certain, hare greeted ihe performers. However, a very appreciative audience listened to the various items given with evident pleasuie. The first part of the pj-ogmmme was composed of selected number* from the oratorios with oilier solos and duetK The opening chorus "The Heavens are Telling" from the "Cie;ttion" Wtis reudered m a spirited style with good time, the various voice pans blending together m strict harmony. The other items down for the h'tst pan passer! oft most successfully. The Misses Liutou and Hartley received a hearty eucore for their duet which was very prettily sung. Mrs Bunn reeivi'd a well merited euchre for her solo "Pass under the Rod" carefully rendered with much tasle. Mosd.nneKibblewliite and Leigh as soprano; Mrs Hoe, Mrs Harvey, and Miss Grace hs contrnllo; Mr Watson, tenor, and Mr Kendall bass, all acquitted themselve well. The ren aition of the Cantata " Nativity" was a success of which the conductor should feel decidedly proud. The work which is full of beatiful though difficult conceited pieces wiih grand choruses was given tluoughnut with precision, tune, and expression only attainable by long- and careful I practice. We hope Mr Hartley will «cc his way to repeating the performance ot this work and we predict a large audience. Miss Mowlem, acting as accompanyist during the eutcriainment, displayed abilities as organist and pianist of no mean order.
