(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Chkistchitrch, J uno 26. The City authorities have decided to stop the further performances of the J uvenile Blondins as too dangerous. Arrangements are being made for sending lewt of copper ore fro m the Malvern district to England to have its value defined.

Dunedis, June 27. A house and stable at Pine Hill, owned by M r Cornelius Bimbiary, j was burned down yesterday. It was insured m the New Zealand for L 550. j It is surmised that the fire was caused by the over -heating of the straw i m the stable. Of fifteen samples of milk taken by i the police, under the Adulterating Act, Professor Black certifies that seven were exceptionally good, seven were inferior, the "creanf "ifavfrig'Tieen" removed, and one sample had either not been strained, or contained much very foul matter. Of. alcoholic liquors submitted to Professor Black, rum was from 10 to 50 per cent under proof. Sherry was found to con - tain a large quantity of sulphate of potash, but not enough to necessitate I their removal from the market. In i port wine nothing injurious was found, though m one cane it could not be called port wine, but a mixture of port wine, surgar, water, and carbonic acid. Whiskey showed nothing worse than water, and brandies weie found to have hud tannin used for coloring, but not man injurious quantity.

Auckland, June 27. -Mr Godfrey Knight, acting inspector of the Equitable Life Assurance Society of the United States, lias arrived here, and has appointed a local directorate consisting of Sir Frederick Whitaker, the Hon. James Williamson, and Dr Campbell.
