Bank Robbery in Tasmania.

The irianager of the branch bank of - Tasmania at Beaconsfieid, a town 33 miles north-west' of Launceston, was stuck up last night and the keys of the bank taken from him. Subsesequently the bank was entered and cash to the amount of £2500 abstracted. The police are now m pursuit of the roboers. , ■ ■ Later. .' Special to the Standard, . Hobast, This Day. further details are to hand regarding the bank robbery at Beaconsheld., The acting manager, (not the mana- . ger) Mr Sfocksofl'e was tied to a tree with his head enveloped m a pillow case. Two men entered the bank while two others who were armed guarded Stocksoffe for two hours. He " was then released. The watch and money which he had on him were not taken. The cash m the bank at the time ot the robbery was unusually large owing to its being pay day at the mines.
