Fourteen selectors m arrears for instalments on dv.'ir deferred payment areas had their licenses cancelled by the Land Board. The report of the directors of the Colonial Bank for the past half-year, recommends placing .£IO,OOO to the reserve fund (making it .£42,000), the payment of a dividend of 7 per confc., which will whsorb £14,000, and carrying forward L 2767. An influential me-tiug was held today to draw up and procure signatures to a request to Mr Dick to alter his publicly expressed decision to refuse a seat m the Council m the event of his boing at any time called. Three children were knocked down m the street by a horse which had taken fright, and the shafts of the vehicle he was attached to becoming detached. One of the children was badly cut j the other two escaped unhurt.
Christchtjrch, July 23. The New South Wales breeders of stock havo promised to act as iudges at the next Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association's show. As proof of the good order at yesterday s election, there was not one case of breach of peace or drunkenness at tbe Resident Magistrate's Court to-day.
