Tha Australian cricketers have commenced a match against an Eleven of South England. -At, the close of the day's play the. visitors had scored 355 with 9 wickets down. Yesterday two boys, about 15 years old, were convicted of theft of money from the Wesleyan Sabbath School, Port Chalmers. They were discharged on the provisio that they were to come up for sentence when called on. { At the inquest at Nelßon on Mrs Scarife a verdict was returnnd m accordance with facts. It is not known how the fire originated. In our advertising columns will be found the pedigree and full particulars of the thoroughbred entire Morpheus. This stallion is such a favourite m these distriots and so well known, as to need, little recommendation on our part. The proprietor, Messrs^ Glbuton & Co., or Mr Palmer, of the Commercial Hotel stables, will supply all further information needed. Special attention is directed to Mr G. M. Snelson's sales to-morrow.
