Fatal Railway Accident.

Christchurch, Sept. 22. Constable George Cartmill, stationed at Malvern, was lun over by a railway truck which was being shunted at the Sheffield railway station on Saturday night. . The , night being /Tery dark the constable did not see the truck till it was close to him, and inistook the direction it was taking. The truck contained three tons of flour. The front wheel passed over the -thigh close to the groin. The thigh was broken and serious internal injuries inflicted. Cartmill was con* reyed by special train to Christchurch, . and admitted to the Hospital at mi<l night on Sunday, and died at noon to-day> :
