(Examined Obtolwr 10th, 1884.) First examination, »iuce the School has been opened. * Standard I. — Examined, 5 ; passed, 4 ; percentage, 80. Beading: Candidates were able to read the Second Koyal Reader with fair fluency. Spelling : Weak. Writing : Fair on paper and m copy books, but letters not ■well-formed on slates. Arithmetic: Addition and -multiplication good, bat no pupil was able to show that he understood that addition was a compendious method of working multiplication. : »•■ Standard ll.— Examined, 2; passed, 3; percentage, 100. Reading, Spelling, and Geography : Excellent!. Arithmetic: Rather- weak, pupils being unable to multiply by factors,' or work long division. Writing: Not good. Standard lit -^ Examined, 2 ; panned, 1 ; percentage, 50. Reading. Spelling, and Writing: Very good. Grammar : Good m the case of one pupil only. History : Not touched. ' Standard V.— Examined, 1 ; passed, 0. Pupil totally unfit for the Standard, except m Reading, Spelling, and writing. .'"■:.■ ;.' The pupils m junior classes have a Very good idea of arithmetic m connection with little problems. Some ap|>ear to be reading too soon m the First Royal Reader. ; : v ] A very small percentage of the School Roll was presented. This may be due to the short time the School has been established. Extra, Subjects : £- Needlework : Excellent, and far beyond the Standards' requirements. Very creditable Work was shown, even by the infants. Recitation : Poetry -very nicely recited, from lowest to the highest clauses. ... . Order und niannor of pupils very pleasing.
