Gisborne, . Oct. 21. The Southern Cross Oil Company are down about 400 ft m the new bore. The indications are considered favorable. On the property belonging to Mr Locke, M..H.R., the lambing averages 108 per cent. Another settler named Olark'had 99 per cent. Lambing m most of the well-grassed holdiugs has been -very prolific. Tlie tenth annual show of the Poverty Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Society held to-day, was the most successful yet held here. Entries were far more numerous than those of any previous year, some splendid cattle, horses, and sheep being exhibited. .
Blenheim, Oct. 21. At the Supreme Court the ca^e of Phillip Rush v. Rose Ellen Rush and Walter Parker came on. It is a petition for di voice on the grouud of adultery of the respondent with the co-respondent. The latter lodged at the house of petitioner, a farmer at Gtovctown, and both he and respondent admitted the adultery. Subsequently they lived together as man and wife. The parties were married m Blenheim m 1879, the- petitioner being 41, and the respondent between 15 aud 16.
Nelson, Oct. 21. News has been received that the 9000 unalloted shares m the Champion Copper Mining Company have been placed m Australia, subject to the approval of Mr Vaile of th\; Eugiish and Australian Copper Company, who is to visit the Nelson mines shortly, and report thereon.
Invkroviigill, Oct. 21. The v lnvercargill Stock Sale Yards was successfully inaugurated to-day. The attendance of the public was very encouraging; About 3000 sheep and about 240 head of cattle were forwarded, and nearly 'all were disposed of.
