The majority of the sections comprised m the above schedule are situated at Pahiatua, m the Mangaone Block, m thp Kopuaranga District, about ' Dreyer's 8,0ck,. near Dreyertown, and front upon or are adjacent to the nmin road connecting Mastertpn and Woodville. Branch ! roads have been formed through the sections at Dr«yer's Rock, Central Mangaone, Hawera, and Pahiatua, at distances respectively from Masterton of about fourteen miles, thivty-nne miles, thirtyfive miles, and forty miles. The Mungahao sections are within fourteen miles of the town of Woodville. ! The Main Trunk Railway from Wellington to Napier, is now being constructed to a point about seventeen miles north of Masterton. Sites for railway stations have been selected at several points. The whole of the sections are covered with ' forest, the principal trees being tawa, ritnu, hinau, rata. kahihatea, with, totaya iv places; the undergrowth is, as a rule, heavy ; the general character* of the soil is good, and^in some places is of first-class quality, the formation being limestone, clay marl, sandstone, &c. The country is generally hilly and undulating, but there are large flats as well as, broken ground within the area; it is well-watered, and, as the climate is also very favorable, the land should, when cleared and brought into cultivation, prove well adapted for pastoral and, to some extent, agricultural put poses. ' ' The Kaiwhata Sections 1 to 5 consist of high hilly land," of fair and iuferioi 1 quality, covered with light bii-ah, mixed sprub, and manuka, with occasionally small open patches. Section 1, Block IV., cousists of good hilly land, partly cleaved and grassed, the balance being covered by liyht bush. The means of access arc -by a partlyformed bririlo track from Gladstone, and from the coast by the Kaiwhata Valley. Maps, schednlos, and application forms can be obtained at tbe Land Office, Wellington, and maps and schedules at the Post Offices, Fentherstoii, ■ Grey town, Mastevlon, Woodville, Palmeraton North, liY>xlon, ami Wanganui, ■ and at tbe various Crown Land Offices throughout the colon v- " J.
