Monday, December 1. (Before His Honor Mr Justice Richmond.) be w. waring taylob. Mr Travers said there was one point which the Assignee wished to bring before the Court, and that was that during the delay owing to criminal proceedings having been instituted, the bankrupt was drawing £3 10s per week from the estate, m, accordance with an order of the Court ; and the Assignee wished to know whether, seeing that the bankrupt asked for delay, the estate should not be relieved from his mamteuance. Ie answer to questions from Hii Honor, the Official Assignee said the dividend, he expected, would be about 3s m the £> and the gross amount of the sum distributed from £10,000 to £12,000. - Mr Travers said he would not object to the amount being .continued till the criminal sittings of the Supreme Court m January uext, and an order was made to that effect. In the coarse of his" examinrtion, the bankrupt, m reference to the statement m the report of the Assignee reflecting on the manner m which the books had been kept; explained that he had been unable to keep his books properly balanced, m consequence of want of time. .In answer Jo his Honor t tbq Assignee said he believed the estate would realise about 7s 6d m the £. Examination continued. Debtor said he had been m business on his own iocount for twenty-one\ months. He had been engaged m a similar business before but was unacquainted with, book keeping. His Honor declared the examination finished. Mr Shaw said that his Honor had previously made & provisional order for an allowance to the debtor of £2 per week. The debtor found it impossible to maintain himself add family on that amount, more especially as he had frequently to travel to Wellington to attend the (Jourt and he asked therefore that, the amount be increased to. £3 per week. His Honor agreed to this.
