Wellington Markets.
The state of trade is good, and con. sumption of commodities continues on the high scale of late months. We are pleased to note the hand-to-mouth char* acter or trade, so indicative of dull times, is giving way to more extended transactions and better prices, so that a prospect is opening, up of some margin between importers' costs and market rates. Both m town and country there are indications of a good Biunmer trade, and with the advance of the season should also come a considerable reduction m the cost of provisions, and so an increase of buying power m other directions. The past month has not been marked by any insolvencies of consequence ; trade is considered sound, and engagements well met. Corrugated iron has been m good demand, and sale, from stock are reported at .£2l to £21 15s for best brands; fencing wire is m full supply, with moderate demand; No. 6 may be quoted at £12 ss ; No. 7 £12 10 ; and No. 8 £12 15s ; barbed wire, £32 to £33 ; we hear of a sale to arrive at £31. Kerosene is m fair supply, and quoted at Is 7d to Is 8d for 130 test, and Is lid for 150.
