The Town Hail was again fairly well attended yesterday afternoon and evening and some further business done m selling the remainder of the goods. In the evening a promenade concert took place commencing at about 8 o'clock, several of our local amateurs taking part besides assistance being rendered by visitors from a distance notably the Missos Shannon (Wellington) and Grindell (Napier). The following programme was rendered and duly appreciated by the audience :— Overture piano, Miss Grindell "Fantasia," (airs from Bellini's " Norma,") duett "Polaski's Banner," Mrs Kibblewhite and Miss Grace, piano solo (violin accompaniment by Miss Shannon), " Hope told a flattering tale " Miss C. Shannon, song " The British Lion " Mr Bickerton, Recitation " The Little Hero " Mr Haybittle, piano solo, Woodlands (being a description of storm m the bush) Miss Giindell, song ," Robin's Beturn" Mrs Bunn, violin splo piano accompaniment Flo tan's "Marta" Miss Shannon, solo piano "La Hirondelles " Miss Leary, song " The Englishman " Mr Kendall, piano solo " Auld. Lang Syne " Miss Shannon, song "In Paradise " Mrs Kibblewhite, violin solo (piano accompaniment) " The last rose of summer" Miss Shannon. The masterly execution and easy manipulation of the violin by Miss Shannon was certainly the most enjoyable portion of the entertainment and received well merited and enthusiastic applause from those present. Shortly after .10 o'clock Mr Pirani undertook to hold a " Dutch auction" of some of the goods, but he was not very {liberally patronised, the visitors having considerably thinned. It is expected the funds will not be very largely supplemented by the financial results of the undertaking.
