Special Settlement Association.
About 45 members of the PalmerstonWaitapu Small Farm Association No. 1 met at the Princess Hotel, Terrace End, on Thursday evening last, to consider the correspondence received from the Government. Several of the members present deprecated the action of the Waste Lands Board m respect to this Block and severely animadverted upon their valuation and the adopting of same by the Government. All the members present agreeing that the reasons given for the levying of 2s 6d per acre m excess of any other Association, upon this Block were of the flimsiest nature and could not with jnstice be supported. It was pointed out that under the rules relating to these Associations " the price of the land shall be such as may be arranged between the Minister and Association," upon which it was decided that a deputation consisting of Messrs W. H. E. Flyger and W. McDowal should proceed to Wellington forthwith and interview the Minister of Lands upon the subject, and urge either a reduction or other concessions m the interests of the Association.
