Football.

The opening of the season was inaugurated on the Club grounds on Saturday.. The match Town v. Country was hot played same as previously notified, but a scratch match was got up commencing about 3.30. The following players took part '.—Messrs Stallard, Hunter, J. Moffatt, Say well, Shearsby, Dungan, Gaustad, Wright, Smith, W. Moffatt, Hanlon, Haultain, Manning; Luxford, G. Paltridge, and a few others whose names we were unable to obtain. The Secretary of the t local club has, we understand, been communicated with by the Foxton Club with a view to arranging a series of matches m the county. The - Pulmerston team, we believe, have decided if possible to raise amongst the Feilding, Foxton, and Pahneraton Clubs • a trophy to be played for amongst them. A match is arranged with the Foxton team to take plaoe there on 20th June.
