London, Sept. 17. Consols are quoted at 100 J. The market rate of discount is If per cent., bank rate 2 per cent. New Zealand Securities— s per cent. 10-40 loan, 104±, ex div ; U per cent. 1879-1904 loan, 101$ ; 4 per' cent, inscribed stock, 100. The weekly returns of the Bank of England show the total reserve m notes and bullion to be £14,300,000. At to day's wool sales 11,700 bales were catalogued. The market was firmer m tone. 28,000 bales have been withdrawn siriue the opening of the present geries.
