Messrs Beckett, Hammond and Dick's Annual Fair.

The annual Sheep and Earn Fair was held by Messrs Beckett, Hammond and Dick, the well knewn firm of auctioneers, at the Club Yards Mar ton, on Friday. The weather fortunately, proved favorable, and the attendance oi buyers, who journeyed trom all parts of the district was very large. The sheep penned were, on the whole, of a very good description, and included some really splendid linksPunctual to tune, Mr Dick made d commencement at 1 p.m., first submitting a number of cattle, for which good average prices were realised. Milch cows, (a fair line) fetched dß3'2s 6d ; fat bullocks, £5 10s ; heifers, i? 22s 6d. In the sheep, • the bidding throughout was spirited, and good prices were generally obtained, very few lines being passed m. Lambs sold at from 4s 2d to 4s 6d ; fat ewes at 8s; two-tooth wethers, 6s 9tl ; prime fat wethers, 9s ; two-tooth ewes, 7s Id ; breeding ewes, 6s 4d. The rams were next offered. For Eomneys very few i purchasers could be found, but the LinI coins were disposed of at fairly good prices. It is a curious fact that some time ago Romneys were almost the only rams enquired after, and now the demand ,for them is little or nothing. After the sale a number .of pigs were disposed of at satisfactory prices.
