Special railway fares are announced for March 20th till 23rd. A special notification from the Acclimatization Society appears elsewhere. : Judgment has been reserved in the application to strike Mr E. Shaw off the roll of barristers and solicitors. Colonel the Hon Sir George Whitmore Commander-in Chief of the Defence and Volunteer Force of New Zealand, was a passenger to Wanganui by the Huia yesterday. Mr Carey's house destroyed yesterday by fire was insured in the Royal for £75, and the contents for £25. The building was a four roomed one. We direct special attention to the announcement in another column of a special Thanksgiving service in the Wesleyan Church on Sunday evening next. We understand that a committee of ladies are already organising their plans for the tasteful decoration of the church with fruits, flowers, corn, and vegetables, and whatever other autumnal products are available and appropriate. The Rev R. S. Bunn will officiate during the day, and will preach a special Thanksgiving sermon at night, and the choir, who are invited to meet at the church for practice to-night. will have some choice music prepared for the occasion. By advertisement elsewhere it will be seen that Mr T. D. Cummins, Wanganui agent for the New Zealand Frozen Meat and Storage Company, Auckland, wholesale Butter Department, has been instructed to re-commence operations, and is now prepared to purchase all prime offered. The butter must be in the Company's kegs, which can be pro cured on application.
