“THE MESSIAH.”

A CRYSTAL PALACE PRODUCTION It is not the privilege of everyone to be present at a Crystal Palace production of “The Messiah” at the Handel Festival; but everyone in the Manawatu district has the opportunity to-night of being present at a notable Handel Festival at the Opera House, Palmerston North, when a combined choir and orchestra of three hundred performers will take part in a unique production of the greatest of all oratorios. The Royal Wellington Choral Union, with commendable zeal and musieianly enterprise has been instrumental in bringing to a successful issue the project of a great production by the society from the Empire City and that of Palmerston North. The conductor, Mr H. Temple White, will have the full co-operation of a magnificent choir and a splendid orchestra. The soloists are Miss Naomi Whalley, who has been most successful in opera and now makes her first appearance in oratorio; Miss aidow, the Dominion’s foremost contralto; Mr Harold Prescott, who is generally acclaimed as the best tenor singer of oratorio in New Zealand, and Mr William Watters, than whom there is no better baritone in New Zealand. The box office at the Opera House has had a very busy time, but there are still a few seats available.
