ROTARY FUNCTION
SOCIAL EVENING. The Anzac Club was the scene of a pleasant little gathering last night when an evening, arranged by the Rotary Club, was held. The spacious hall was comfortably filled by members and their friends, who indulged in dancing and cai'ds, while proceedings were interspersed with songs and choruses. The contributors to the programme were as follow : —Alisses McRae, Hancock, Airs Freeman, Messrs Jacobs, A. AlcKegg, Jensen, J. Stevenson, C. R. Luke and C. Bryden, Mrs AV. H. K. Gilmour fulfilling the duties of accompaniste. A “Mister New Zealand” beauty contest was staged, and was productive of a considerable amount of interest and laughter, the post of honour being awarded to Air C. R. Luke, with Air B. J. Jacobs runner-up. A dainty supper was served by Rotarian Freeman, while the general arrangements were excellent, Rotarian N. H. Alackie and a capable committee having made every effort to ensure for the guests a pleasant evening.
