WORLD’S RECORD BEATEN.
ROME, Dec. 4. Armando Valenta, an Italian, walked 20 kilometres in 1 hour 39 minutes 20 2-5 seconds, beating the world’s record, held by the Dane, Peterson, 1 hour 39 minutes 22 seconds.—A. and N.Z. cable.
N.S.W. CHAMPIONSHIP. SYDNEY, Dec. 5. The seven miles walking championship of New South Wales resulted:— Sunderland (Victoria), 1; Latham, 2; Foster, 3.—Press Association.
