GARDEN FETE.

GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL FUNCTION

With the object of swelling the fund to provide for an assembly hall at the Girls’' High School, a garden fete was conducted in the spacious grounds at the hostel this afternoon, it being hoped that, as a result of the function, the moneys now in hand for the purpose stated would be brought up to the slum of £SOO. The afternoon was taken up with dancing and other forms of amusement. Two stalls conducted by the girls did good business. The function, which was controlled by the teaching staff under the principal, Miss C. IS. Mills, was the first to be held at the hostel, although previously several had beeh held in the school grounds—
