FIRE AT TUAKAU

FAMILY’S NARROW ESCAPE. ALL THEIR CLOTHES DESTROYED Per Press Association. PUKEKOHE, Dec. 6. About 10 p.m. on Saturday fire destroyed a six-roomed house at Tuakau occupied by Mrs G. Bakalich and a family of eight young children. The father was absept at the time, and the wife had great difficulty in escaping with the family in her night attire. The youngest child’s foot was burned. The family was lucky for a few minutes after their exit the building collapsed. The family is now homeless and without clothes, all their effects being lost.
