BOROUGH OFFICER CHARGED.

ACCUSED IN HOSPITAL. A WAIhTCASE. WAIHI, Dec. 4. At the Police Court this morning, J. J. Ritchie, late town clerk of Waihi, was charged on remand with the theft of £34 7s, the property of the Waihi Borough Council. Detective-Sergeant Sweeney said that accused was at present an inmate of the Auckland Hospital, and was likely to remain. there from three to six months. Arrangements had been made with the Auckland police to have a court constituted at the hospital that morning, when a remand would be applied for, covering a date following the Christmas vacation. _ The case was, therefore, adjourned, sine die, to Auckland.
