A tram-car and a heavy motor lorry met in a head-on collision in Lichfield street, Christchurch, yesterday afternoon. The motor lorry was considerably damaged, and was thrown on its side. The driver of the lorry, aged about 18 or 19, was not injured, though he was considerably shaken. A protective cab over the driver’s seat saved him. The driver of the tramcar received cuts from flying glass, but otherwise he was not hurt. The crash of the impact was heard several blocks away. Both front tyres burst as the lorry -fell over. A collision between a motor truck and a tram-car at the intersection of Cashel and Tailored streets reduced the motor truck to pieces. The tram-car was slightly damaged, but no one was injured.
