LAWN TENNIS. [From Our Own Correspondent.] Tho tennis match played at Shannon on Saturday between Levin B and Shannon B teams resulted, after a very interesting day’s play, in a win for tile home side by 15 sets to 9. The results were as follow, Shannon players being mentioned first:— Ladies* singles: Miss M. Brown beat Miss McDonnell 6—l; Mrs Whibley beat Miss Alloway 6—4; Mrs Easton beat Miss Fretchling 6—4; Mrs McGucken beat Mrs Messenger B—6;8 —6; Mrs Merwood lost to Miss Caldwell o—6; Miss Sinclair beat Miss Ensor 6—2. Men’s singles: F. Murray lost to Evans 3—6; S. Jones beat Percy 7-—5; Cronquest lost to Todd I—6; G. Frank beat Messenger 6 —2; H. Curran lost to Phillips 4 —6; YV. Goodwin beat Emmett 6—3. Ladies’ doubles: Alisa Brown and Mrs Easton beat Miss McDonnell and Miss Fretchling 6—2; Mrs Whibley and Mrs McGucken beat Miss Alloway and Mrs Messenger 7 —5; Mrs Merwood and Miss Sinclair beat Miss Ensor and Miss Caldwell 6—2. The local tennis A team, who journeyed to Levin on Saturday, lost the match by 11 sets to 13, but report a splendid afternoon’s sport and hope to be able to meet Levin again before Christmas on the local courts.
