AMONG THE TROUT

SPORT AT ROTORUA. SOME GOOD CATCHES. ROTORUA, Dec. 6. Fish are now entering the lakes freely from the streams, and many good baskets were secured at the week-end. Messrs Staff, Corbett and Betinson, fishing iy Lake Rotorua, caught 24, the largest being 81b. Captain Johnson (London) and Mr Barnes (Australia), in Lake Rotoiti, caught nine, including 11 and 71pounders. Two rods in the Utihina stream took 30. An angler fishing on Saturday lost both fish and fly on a snag. Yesterday he hooked and secured the same fish with the hook and fly still in its gills. Messrs P. Scott and G. Stewart caught 13 fish and a party on the launch Mararoa landed 24. All the fish were in excellent condition, showing that plenty of food is available.
